Hui Lin is the director of the School of Accountancy & MIS at the Driehaus College of Business. Hui Lin has taught in DePaul’s School of Accountancy & MIS since 2008 and maintains her commitment to bringing students high-quality accounting education. She has been recognized with the Driehaus College of Business Excellence in Online Teaching Award (2018) and the DePaul University Excellence in Teaching Award (2014).
Lin is a published expert in the areas of IT governance, internal controls, information security, data analytics and knowledge management. Having worked as an independent consultant in implementing enterprise information systems, she brings together an academic and diverse business perspective. She is especially interested in the relationships between social, psychological and technological factors that impact knowledge management in organizations.

Ray Whittington is professor of accountancy. He is a certified public accountant, certified management accountant and certified internal auditor.
He teaches auditing and has published extensively within the field, including books on audit sampling and auditing principles. He has also helped to build an extensive and active alumni network for DePaul Accountancy & MIS graduates. Dr. Whittington formerly served as dean of the Driehaus College of Business.
Whittington is highly distinguished across the accounting and business fields. In 2001, he was named one of the top 100 most influential people in accounting by Accounting Today. He has received the Ernst & Young Outstanding Professor Award twice, and each year from 2006-2016, Crain’s Chicago Business highlighted him in its “Who’s Who in Chicago” list.

Ning Du is an associate professor and also serves as DePaul’s associate director for regional initiatives – China. She also serves as the Dr. Barry J. Epstein faculty fellow and director of the MS in Accountancy program.
Du has taught financial accounting and reporting at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research bridges the gap between psychology and accounting with a special focus on judgment and decision-making for financial information users. She has published many articles in various journals including Management Science, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Behavioral Finance, Journal of Accounting Auditing and Finance, Accounting Research Journal, International Journal of Forecasting, The CPA Journal, Research in Accounting Regulations, Strategic Finance and Managerial Auditing.

Tawei (David) Wang is currently a professor, KPMG/Neil F. Casson Endowed Professor, and associate dean for faculty and research at the Driehaus College of Business. Wang, who has been published widely across leading journals, has received several research awards and is currently the second most productive researcher in accounting information systems’ archival research based on the Brigham Young University accounting researcher ranking. His articles have been downloaded more than 30,000 times through the Science Direct network.
At DePaul, Wang mainly teaches audit analytics and has been invited by universities and conferences around the world to discuss curriculum design and analytics teaching strategies. He is now on the Fulbright Specialist Roster for developing analytics curriculum for accounting/auditing programs. He was a speaker of analytics at a chief audit executive roundtable hosted by the Institute of Internal Auditors. He was also a speaker of cybersecurity and analytics at the 2019 American Accounting Association AIS Bootcamp, and was involved in the development of cybersecurity curriculum guidelines by Association for Computing Machinery. In 2018, Wang was selected to be the KPMG James Marwick professor in residence.
He actively serves in the professional community as a workshop/conference coordinator, reviewer and editorial board member. In 2020, Wang served as the editor of the Journal of Information Systems as well as the president of the AAA Midwest Region.

Susan Lueders has served as a Senior Professional Lecturer at DePaul University since 1990. She teaches a blend of graduate- and undergraduate-level coursework at the School of Accountancy & MIS. Previously, Lueders worked at the Bakers Square division of VICORP Restaurants as the Manager of Financial Analysis and at Deloitte, Haskins & Sells as an auditor. She is a registered CPA in Illinois.
In addition to her work in accountancy, Lueders’ research interests include exploring the use of teaching strategies to impact the academic and social challenges faced by first-generation college students. She has served on numerous committees at DePaul since 2006.
Lueders is a member of the American Accounting Association, the Beta Gamma Sigma Honorary Fraternity and the Illinois CPA Society.

Eileen Marutzky is a distinguished accounting educator and legal expert, having served as deputy assistant United States attorney and senior litigation counsel for the U.S. Department of Justice. Marutzky has more than 30 years of experience teaching undergraduate- and graduate-level coursework at DePaul’s School of Accountancy & MIS. Additionally, she is a registered CPA in Illinois.
Marutzky has been recognized for both her work as an educator and her legal work with the Justice Department, having been nominated for the Illinois CPA society’s “Educator of the Year” award, receiving the U.S. Department of Justice “Special Achievement Award for Sustained Superior Performance” and receiving the United States Attorney General’s “Special Commendation Award.”

Gary Chen has a diverse background in accounting and engineering. His research intersects accounting with corporate social responsibility, finance, information technology, labor relations and supply chain management. His interdisciplinary approach to research provides new insights into the economic forces that impact corporate accounting disclosures and those that drive information search by decision makers.
His research has been published by leading journals including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Review of Accounting Studies, Journal of Information Systems and Accounting & Finance, among others. Chen teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting information systems. Prior to joining DePaul, he taught courses in advanced financial accounting as well as contemporary accounting issues and research at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). He has received the Dean’s Recognition for Outstanding Teaching at UIC.
Chen is actively involved in the profession. He has presented his work at various seminars and conferences. His research has been nominated for several best conference paper awards. Chen regularly serves as a referee and conference discussant and has received the FARS Excellence in Reviewing Award.

Molly Mercer currently teaches financial accounting to undergraduate and graduate students. Prior to joining DePaul in 2009, Mercer served as a faculty member at Emory University and Arizona State University. Mercer has received several awards for teaching excellence, including the QIC Excellence in Teaching Award at DePaul.
Mercer is also an award-winning scholar whose research has been published in academic publications, including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting & Economics, Contemporary Accounting Research, Accounting Horizons, and Management Science and Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory. Her research explores psychological influences on the behaviors of various parties in the financial reporting process.

Kent Klaus is a member of the faculty of the Driehaus College of Business at DePaul University. In addition to his full-time teaching responsibilities, he is also a member of the dean’s advisory council and helps lead the Office of Student Success & Engagement within the School of Accountancy & MIS.
The office has implemented a number of programs to support students, including an executive-in-residence program, a mentoring program for students, various career panels and classroom presentations by accounting executives. Klaus has also served on a number of other faculty committees at DePaul.
In addition, Klaus serves on a number of nonprofit boards, including the Chicago chapter of Disability: IN, ADA 25 Advancing Leadership, CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois and Access Living. Klaus has served as an officer of most of these organizations, including past president of the CPA Endowment Fund.
Klaus also focuses on building a stronger community for people with disabilities. At Deloitte, he was the leader of the firm’s business resource group supporting employees with disabilities. He worked closely with the Deloitte Foundation to create endowed programs for students with disabilities at area universities. Klaus also inspired the creation of the Deloitte Foundation Scholarship for students with disabilities at DePaul. As a result of his commitment to people with disabilities, Klaus was the annual recipient of the Lester H. McKeever Jr. Advancing Diversity Award from the Illinois CPA Society.

Stephani Mason is an assistant professor in the School of Accounting & MIS at the Driehaus College of Business. Mason has more than a decade of experience working in investment management at JP Morgan Investment Management, the JP Morgan Private Bank and US Trust. Her academic research interests include the impact of valuation and accounting standards, financial regulation and corporate governance on financial reporting, capital market behavior, investing/financing decisions and executive compensation.
Mason has conducted numerous research studies focused on fair value accounting and the valuation process, including a project that was awarded a grant by the International Audit and Assurance Standards Board/Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland/International Association. In addition, she has received external grants from the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and Institute of Management Accountants for her research in this area. Her academic research has been published in top journals and presented at prestigious academic conferences, and she has published papers in practitioner and educational journals, including Issues in Accounting Education, Accounting Perspectives, Accounting in Europe, and Current Issues in Auditing.
Mason presently serves on the scientific committee for the Canadian Academic Accounting Association and the Financial Management Association; the European Accounting Association Financial Reporting Standards committee and Financial Reporting Research Group; the American Accounting Association Auditing Standards Committee; and the AICPA Complex Financial Instruments Task Force and National Accreditation Commission.

John J. Vitanovec is a senior lecturer in DePaul’s School of Accountancy & MIS. He has been teaching at DePaul since 2009. In addition, he serves as the coordinator of scheduling and curriculum for the school.
Prior to DePaul, Vitanovec’s career included both public accounting and the media industry. Upon graduation from DePaul, he joined the Coopers & Lybrand (now PwC) audit practice and served publicly and privately held clients in manufacturing, consumer products and real estate. After PwC, he spent 25 years at Tribune Broadcasting. His final position with Tribune was as the executive vice president of Tribune Broadcasting Company, which generated $1.5 billion of sales across its 30-plus operating units.
As a DePaul undergraduate student, he studied in the honors accounting program (now Strobel Scholars) and graduated Summa Cum Laude. Vitanovec was also active on campus, serving as resident advisor in Clifton (now Munroe Hall) and president of the honors accounting society Beta Alpha Psi. In addition, he presented the Student Commencement Address at DePaul’s university wide graduation ceremony.
